Summer Library Challenge

Complete our Summer Library Challenge and earn prizes like books, snacks or an opportunity to help a charitable organization! Challenges are available for kids, teens and adults and will be available during the months of June and July. Build a better world while you discover how to build a better YOU!

6th Annual “Chopped” Competition

Our 6th annual Chopped event returns this summer! Your team will cook your way through our mystery basket and try to impress our judges. Recommended for youth ages 8 and up. Signup begins June 1. A week prior to the event, we enter registered teams into a random drawing for a spot in the competition. Those who are selected will be notified. A total of 8 teams will be selected to participate in the competition. Spectators welcome. Thurs, Jul. 20, 5:30PM

Build Me a Story

Use LEGOs to create a scene and share your stories!  Recommended for ages 4-12. Last Monday of the month. (No meeting in May due to holiday.) No charge.

Got skills? Come and test them out at open gaming with Wii and our PS4! Second Thursday of each month, open to youth of all ages.  Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.  (Anyone who wishes to bring their own games must have them approved by Youth Services staff prior to the event and sign a liability waiver.)  No charge.

Messy Art Club 

Come and get messy with us!  Recommended for ages 5-12, no registration required.  Third Wednesday of the month, each featuring a different messy craft.  No charge.

From Rhymes to Readers

Join us Thursdays at 11am for “Rhymes to Readers”!  From 11:00-11:20am we’ll have rhymes, songs and flannelboard stories for toddlers ages 1 to 3.  This will be followed by longer stories and activities for preschoolers from 11:20-11:40AM.  Ages are only a guideline- if you have a preschooler who loves to sing or a toddler that loves storytime, join us for both sessions!  Summer session of “Rhymes to Readers” returns on June 1 and will run through Aug. 10. No charge.


Ever wished the library offered more of a certain type of book or movie?  Have you ever longed for a specific event or program to be hosted here at the library?  Tell us about it!  Join Y.O.L.O. (Youth Offering Library Opinions) and help shape the future of the NPR Public Library.  Y.O.L.O. members will contribute ideas for programs and events, help select new library materials, plan for future fundraising opportunities and make a difference in the community.  You can also earn volunteer hours.  Meetings are once a month.  Open to those going into grades 6 through 12.  Contact Jessica in Youth Services for more information or an application.
