“Every Hero Has a Story” at your NPR Public Library.  The library will be hosting its annual Summer Reading Program from June 20 through August 8.  Log your reading time to earn cool incentives, plus a chance to win additional weekly prizes, too.  Join us for seven weeks of storytimes, crafts, teen events, movies and more!  Enrollment will begin on June 8; stop by the library to sign up and pick up your welcome packet.  Contact the Youth Services at 727-853-1264 for additional information.  Special thanks to Kidz World of Play for their generous donations.”

Russian Duo 11-15-13 RUSSIAN DUO is an international project, born out of a love of traditional music and classical elegance.  Oleg Kruglyakov, balalaika virtuoso, and Terry Boyarsky, masterful pianist, have teamed up for exuberant performances of soulful, passionate music. Their collaboration highlights the mysterious sounds of the balalaika underscored by the vast expressive range of the piano. Featuring vocals and Russian percussion, their extensive repertoire draws from Russian folk music, romances, dances, classical music, gypsy melodies and Russian songs.

This is a 100 at 1 Concert: 100 tickets will be given away at 1PM at the library’s front desk, and the concert will begin as soon as all ticketed patrons have found a seat. No charge

This live program features the popular vinyl recordings of American composer and big band leader Duke Ellington (1899-1974). Originally written and produced as a music appreciation program for sensory impaired children, Rocks in my Bed has enjoyed a popular following in public libraries around the United States. Along with Ellington’s music, our presenter tells the story of Duke’s childhood and the Duke Ellington orchestra from 1928 through the late 1940’s when his inimitable style was
known throughout the world.
