DeChant discusses his work titled Religion & Culture in the West: A Primer, now in its 2nd edition.
First performed on February 14, 1895 at the St James’s Theatre in London, this farcical comedy is still relevant. The protagonists maintain fictitious personæ to escape burdensome social obligations which winds up causing confusion and mayhem.

RUSSIAN DUO is an international project, born out of a love of traditional music and classical elegance. Oleg Kruglyakov, balalaika virtuoso, and Terry Boyarsky, masterful pianist, have teamed up for exuberant performances of soulful, passionate music. Their collaboration highlights the mysterious sounds of the balalaika underscored by the vast expressive range of the piano. Featuring vocals and Russian percussion, their extensive repertoire draws from Russian folk music, romances, dances, classical music, gypsy melodies and Russian songs.

This live program features the popular vinyl recordings of American composer and big band leader Duke Ellington (1899-1974). Originally written and produced as a music appreciation program for sensory impaired children, Rocks in my Bed has enjoyed a popular following in public libraries around the United States. Along with Ellington’s music, our presenter tells the story of Duke’s childhood and the Duke Ellington orchestra from 1928 through the late 1940’s when his inimitable style was known throughout the world.
Hungrytown is the musical and married duo of Rebecca Hall and Ken Anderson. They have released two highly acclaimed CDs, Hungrytown (2008) and Any Forgotten Thing (2011), both of which continue to receive much airplay on folk and Americana stations worldwide. They have been an NPR Public Library favorite for years!
